History

It all began in 1932 in a typical mirror workshop in a back alley basement in Fuerth, Bavaria.
When our company's founders, Hans and Frieda Lang, got married in Fürth in 1932, they registered their business on the very same day. They started out with the production of a great variety of mirrors. Initially, the business focussed on glass silvering and mirror glass processing.

Heinrich and Guenter Lang, the sons of the founders and leader of the company since 1960, they specialized in small mirrors, and became so successful that a move to a new and larger location in Fürth's Schuckertstraße became necessary. Today, it is the only mirror manufacturing company left in Fürth which was then well-known for its glass and mirror industry.

Under their leadership the company purchased its first injection molding system and took up the production of rear view mirrors for commercial vehicles and passenger cars as well as plastic parts manufacturing. These products turned out to be so successful that in 1978, after the acquisition of MEtallwaren KRAuse - a highly respected Nuremberg company with a rich business tradition - the company launched its Ergersheim operations laying the foundation for what has become today's MEKRA Lang.

Now in its third generation, the company's success story continues. Today, managing directors Sabine Lang, Susanne Lang, Dr. Werner Lang, Bernd Bögel and Volker Tichy are at the helm of the company, supported and guided by the experience of senior managing director Heinrich Lang.

Now in its third generation, the company has set out on the path to globalization. The first non-European location in Ridgeway, South Carolina, was founded by Sabine Lang.

MEKRA Lang has been a success story ever since its inception and is now represented globally at 19 locations in 14 countries.
