A true soccer festival could be seen on Saturday, April 29, 2023 at the sports field of the SV Ergersheim. At the Heinrich Lang Memorial Tournament organized by the MEKRA Lang company and the SV Ergersheim, a total of ten teams fought with great enthusiasm for a place on the podium of the fun tournament.
Not only teams from the MEKRA family of companies competed, but also partners of the company such as "Gastro Rienecker", the volleyball players of TV Bad Windsheim the "Hyenas" and also the Erlangen tax consultants "SMDM".
In two groups of five, everyone played against everyone else. The two best in the groups advanced to the semifinals. In the first semi-final, the team from the Nuremberg law firm "B&R meets Quelle Fürth", which was superior throughout the tournament, beat the MEKRA shipping department team "As Pirin" 4:0. Mini World Cup and Soccer Academy
Meanwhile, on the neighboring field, 40 young kickers were competing in the Mainfranken Soccer Academy run by ex-professional Florian Galuschka. In addition to training on the ball and game skills, the focus was also on the big Mini World Cup, which Brazil won against Argentina.
In the early afternoon, young and old were surprised by Eddy the dragon. The mascot of SpVgg Greuther Fürth accompanied Emily-Sophie Malz, player of the SpVgg. The likeable Fürth player was available for an interview on the topic of women's soccer and crowned all teams. Every player, young and old, went home with a certificate and a prize.
All players and spectators were well catered for by SV Ergersheim with barbecued food, homemade salads and cakes. The tournament, held in memory of MEKRA's senior boss, himself a big fan and honorary member of SVE, reaffirmed the company's good partnership with the club. All proceeds benefited the club for further projects.
