SIMULATION METHODS

We design all components and assemblies virtually on the computer at an early stage. To do this, we use only the most advanced computer-aided engineering (CAE) software. This allows us to meet the highest standards—both our customers’ and our own—while minimizing resource usage.


At our company, test and calculation engineers work closely together in a single department, both physically and professionally. This enables the continuous refinement and validation of our calculation methods.

FEM / TOPOLOGY

At MEKRA Lang, we use the finite element method (FEM) to simulate the vibration characteristics, strength, and service life of our products even before prototype parts are used, as well as to improve the design of structural components with regard to stress using topology optimization.

This allows us to minimize risks and capitalize on optimization potential early on. As a result, we can evaluate improvements very quickly and cost-effectively and implement them optimally for both ourselves and our customers.

MOLDFLOW

We always simulate all newly developed plastic parts using the Moldflow injection molding simulation software prior to production. With Moldflow, we simulate the filling behavior of plastic parts, verify whether the wall thicknesses are appropriate for the material, and calculate the optimal gate location—which is crucial for part quality. If residual warpage in the part cannot be eliminated despite initial design optimization, we design the part to counteract the calculated warpage in order to ultimately achieve an optimal part.


AERODYNAMICS

Using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation, we evaluate the flow characteristics of various designs and then optimize the component geometry accordingly.

HEAT DIFFUSION

We also develop electronic components and assemblies using the thermal heat transfer simulation method. This allows us to optimize heating and cooling designs as early as the conceptual design stage.


Thanks to the close integration of our mechanical and electronic development departments, we can quickly and efficiently evaluate the thermal properties of new design variants. We also make changes as needed.
